Nov 2, 2011
Translated by Zhu Na
Wang Shunchang (王顺昌), the former deputy director of CAAC, is now the new General Manager of China National Aviation Holding Company (中国航空集团公司), the parent company of Air China Ltd (中国国航), one of China's three large airlines.
Kong Dong (孔栋), who was replaced by Wang, will serve as chairman of the board at Air China Ltd.
Both the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and Air China Ltd have confirmed the personnel shift.
Kong Dong was born in 1951 and turned 60 earlier this year.
According to new rules that apply to executives employed at centrally controlled state-owned enterprises that operate under the authority of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), once an employee reached 60 years of age, in general, he or she should be replaced.
China National Aviation Holding Company was founded in 2002, and currently employees about 60,000 people and boasts total assets of 165 billion yuan.
On Nov 1, China Telecommunications Group Corporation (中国电信集团公司), commonly known as China Telecom, also announced personnel changes.
China telecom is one of China's three dominant telecommunication companies.

Former General Manager Wang Xiaochu (王晓初) has been appointed as both the new chairman of the board and party secretary of the company, while former deputy general manager Yang Jie (杨杰), has been promoted to general manager of China Telecom.
This shift is an indication that China Telecom has started to adopt to a new management structure of separating positions of chairman of the board and general manager, which is being made in accordance with new requirements issued by SASAC.
China Telecom currently employees more than 600,000 people and boasts total assets of almost 650 billion yuan.
