A China National Radio report on the completion of a 30-storey building in 360 hours has provoked listeners to express skepticism and concern online.
The high-rise in Xiangyin County( 湘阴县), Hunan Province was completed a month ago and already contains restaurants and offices. It was designed and built by Yuanda Kejian Technology Ltd. (远大可建科技有限公司) and covers an area of 17,000 squre meters in total
Foreign bloggers find it hard to believe the reported construction speed, while others say they would "even dare stand close to it.”
According to Xiangyin deputy mayor Zhang Haoguo (张浩果), who was also head of the construction project, all the walls, windows and doors were finished in the factory and later assembled on site like toy building bricks.
The developers also claim that it is a sustainable building that consumes less material and energy, will resist earthquakes and last for hundreds of years.
