Water Prices in Beijing to Increase

The price of water in Beijing, in keeping with a national trend, is on the way up. Although the size of the price hike as far as residential water go, is still to be determined at official price hearings, authorities have revealed that prices will go up on Jan 1, 2010. Commercial water rates will increase on Nov 20, with the price of water supplied to businesses, hotels and restaurants raised to 6.21 yuan per cubic meter, while government departments will now have to pay 5.8 yuan per cubic meter.
