China's consumer price index (CPI) was up 3.1% in May, on a year-on-year basis, but decreased by 0.1% when compared with the measure for April. The CPI figure for the first five months of 2010 is 2.5% higher than that registered over the same period last year, statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics this morning revealed.
