China UnionPay has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Railways to make it possible for people to buy train tickets via mobile phone, telephone, Internet and ticket issuing machines. Liu Hongrun, deputy director of the finance department of the Ministry of Railways, said that it may be possible for people to purchase tickets via Internet this year, though he didn’t mention whether people would only be able to pay for tickets through the Internet or whether tickets could be accessed online.
